Our Story

Almost 8 billion people, more than 8 million species, seven grand seas and seven major continents all have one thing in common. We share one planet, one Earth; our Earth. We all belong here, this is the place we all call home. Nia Lapansi is committed to practice sustainability from the phase of brainstorming through the phase of designing, creating, producing, selling and until the end of our products lifetime and beyond. We are prepared to give back more than we take and contribute to growth where we see growth potential.

Our Products

Same same, but different

We believe the Nia Lapansi yoga mat is partaking in raising the bar within yoga mats. Quality does not equal expensive. Nor does it have to be at the cost of nature. We have kept the high valued qualities desired by most yogis and athletes and thrown out the unwanted clutter such as pollution, non-recyclable, harmful plastics and unnecessary waste. We also choose the most environmentally friendly packaging and shipping methods available.

Kiboko - Lilla Basic Collection

The materials

Our yoga mats are made from natural rubber and PU, also known as polyurethane. Natural rubber is one of the most eco friendly materials one can use when making a yoga mat. However, natural rubber alone does not make for a good quality yoga mat with the qualities desired by many yogis and athletes. Our mats therefore contain a top layer made of polyurethane. PU is innovative plastic that do not contain any chemicals that interfere with endocrine and hormone systems, nor does it contribute to PH change in soil or water.

Recyclable

Polyurethane recycling is a part of the solution. The problem with plastic is when it cannot be recycled. Plastic cannot be recycled when dirty or whilst mixed with other materials. This is why our mats have a top layer and a bottom layer. Once the mat has served its purpose and is ready to be replaced, one can simply separate the two layers and recycle both parts.
